Jobi Cates

Criminal Justice Advocate

Jobi Cates is the founder and president of Restore Justice, a civic organization created to protect young people serving extreme prison sentences in the adult criminal justice system in Illinois. For 25 years, Cates has been an advocate for the rights of children in public systems—particularly schools and prisons. Jobi is Chair of the Legislative Committee for the Illinois Coalition for the Fair Sentencing of Children, which seeks to end the practice of sentencing children who commit serious crimes to “life without parole”. In her non-volunteer capacity, Jobi serves as a consultant, providing strategic planning, development and communications support for a variety of local and national non-profits.
