Jeanne Nolan, founder of The Organic Gardener Ltd., has designed more than 750 farms and food gardens in and around Chicago. She is also designer and manager of The Edible Gardens at Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo. Her book From the Ground Up: A Food Grower's Education in Life, Love and the Movement That's Changing the Nation is full of how-tos and tips for new gardeners. Nolan is also leading a series of the free gardening workshops this season.
