Jenny Bourne

Jenny is the Program Manager of the Berggruen Institute. This position is responsible for managing the Philosophy and Culture Center within the Berggruen Institute. Prior to joining the Berggruen Institute, she worked to launch a Master program in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Maryland, which is the second such program in the country. Jenny also holds a PhD in Intercultural Communication from the University of Maryland. Her dissertation researches into the intercultural challenges in Chinese-English conference interpreting. Her research interests also include: intercultural communication, Chinese/American cultural comparison, interpreter-mediated communication, and interpreting training etc. Jenny also holds a Master degree in Interpreting and Translating from the Newcastle University in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor degree in English and Translation Studies from Xi’an International Studies University in China.
