Manages the Emergency Medical Services Division for the City of Madison Fire Department

Captain Jen Román manages the Emergency Medical Services Division for the City of Madison Fire Department, having served as a firefighter, paramedic, training officer and lieutenant. She is faculty for Madison College in the School of Human and Protective Services and earned a Masters from UW-Madison in Adult and Continuing Education. Jen has been an active Girl Scout volunteer for over 25 years, helping girls and women become their best selves. Not one to sit around waiting for something to happen, she took on gender inequity head-on and founded CampHERO, an experience that introduces girls to careers in police, fire and emergency medical services, and provides mentorship for those who pursue it. She wants you to know that you can achieve great things, even while battling a serious addiction to chocolate!
