Jere Hester

News Director @CUNYJSchool, Author of "Raising a Beatle Baby"

Jere Hester is the director of the Reporting and Writing program and the director of News Products and Projects at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. He joined the J-School in 2006 as the founding director of the award-winning NYCity News Service, which feeds student work to journalism outlets of all types and sizes. Hester was previously city editor of the New York Daily News, where he started as a reporter in 1992. Since 2009, he has written a pop culture column for NBC Local Integrated Media. He also is the author of “Raising a Beatle Baby: How John, Paul, George and Ringo Helped us Come Together as a Family.” A lifelong Brooklyn resident, Hester began his journalism career as an intern at the Downtown Express, where he rose to editor before his stint at the Daily News.
