Jerome Karabel, Professor of Sociology at the University of California Berkeley, is the author of The Chosen: The Hidden History of Admission and Exclusion at Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. An award-winning author, he has written for The New York Review of Books, The New York Times Book Review, The Nation, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and Le Monde Diplomatique. He is currently at work on a book tentatively titled Outlier Nation: The History of American Distinctiveness and How It Shapes Us Today, which he began as a Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington.
