Jerry Libbin

Miami Beach Commissioner

Miami Beach Commissioner Jerry Libbin has worked diligently to preserve and enhance the city’s unique and vibrant character since being elected in 2005.

Jerry has a record of tangible results from his policy initiatives dealing with fiscal responsibility, public education, international trade, economic development, arts and culture, the environment and sustainability, neighborhood improvement projects and condominium owner rights.

Miami Beach voters rewarded Jerry for his hard work by overwhelmingly re-electing him in 2009. Jerry currently vice-chairs the City Commission’s Neighborhoods/Community Affairs Committee and is an alternate member of the Land Use and Development Committee.  He is also very involved with the Sustainability Committee.

Jerry has always been active in our community. He was the executive director of the Miami Beach Jewish Community Center for eight years, and was president of the Normandy Shores Homeowner’s Association.
Jerry also was a member of the city’s Budget Advisory Committee and the Planning Board, where he helped create “Neighborhood Conservation Districts” that give residents more power over zoning decisions.

Jerry’s civic leadership has earned him accolades and recognition from a variety of organizations. He received the Emerald City Award from the Environmental Coalition of Miami and the Beaches, the Kiwanian of the Year Award, the North Beach Development Corp Leadership award, and the Outstanding Leadership award from the Optimist Club. And he’s a consecutive selection in Miami Today’s Book of Leaders.

A former financial planner, Jerry has been the President and CEO of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce since 2010. During his tenure at the Chamber, Jerry has concentrated on providing greater economic opportunity and more jobs in the city.

Jerry is married to Raquel Bild-Libbin, a psychologist in private practice. They have two college-age children, Sari and Moshe.
