Progressive Communications Strategist

Jess Torres is a communications strategist based in DC who believes in building Latino political power. She currently serves as Deputy Communications Director for Latino Victory Project and is also a member of the Board of Directors for "Pay Our Interns." She previously served as Assistant Press Secretary for the Democratic National Convention Committee. Prior to that, she was a researcher for the Hispanic Media Project at Media Matters for America and legal analyst at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Her work has been featured by Los Angeles Times, La Opinion, MSNBC’s Changing America, Latino Rebels, Elite Daily, AfroPunk, Huffington Post, and The Center for New Community’s Imagine 2050, Refinery 29, and Women's Health. Jess also served on the board of Students Active For Ending Rape (SAFER) -- a national campus sexual violence prevention organization – where she coordinated teach-in workshops to mobilize student activists and their allies to fight for more inclusive policy practices. Jess received a B.A. from Williams College in History with a concentration in Africana Studies in 2012 and is a proud PREP9 alumna.
