Jessica Abo

Anchor, NY1 News

During the week, you'll find Jessica Abo anchoring a program on NY1 News called Your New Jersey News Now. In the field, Jessica has covered everything from breaking news, health issues and sports, to food, fashion and philanthropy. You may have even caught this award-winning journalist playing a news anchor on several episodes of the television show Gossip Girl.

Jessica's commitment to making a difference in the non-profit world led her to run the Chicago Marathon in memory of a boy who died of cancer and the New York City Marathon in honor of a boy living with Emanuel Syndrome, a rare genetic disease. She has served on dozens of committees and chaired several fundraisers including a benefit for victims of the 2004 Thailand tsunami, a black-tie gala for children with rare chromosome disorders, and a clothing drive for victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. In total, her events have raised more than $100,000 for non-profit organizations worldwide. When she's not in the newsroom, Jessica lectures around the country on a variety of journalism and philanthropy related topics.

Jessica received her bachelor and master degrees from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. In 2007, she became one of the youngest people in the country to be named a regional finalist for the White House Fellows Program, the nation’s most prestigious program for leadership and commitment to public service. In 2010, the Jewish International Connection of New York honored Jessica with the Dedication to Jewish Life award at their annual gala.

Jessica is the founder and president of Jessica Blair, Inc. Her company helps people reach their personal and professional goals. She's also the founder and president of Match 4 Good, Inc., which marries her passion for matchmaking with philanthropy.
