Vermont Secretary of State
Jim Condos of Montpelier, Washington County was born January 29, 1951, in Orange, NJ. Becoming a Chittenden County resident in 1955, Jim attended Burlington schools, graduating from South Burlington High School and the University of Vermont (1974). He has one daughter.
Jim has 30 years of business experience working for a Fortune 100 company, a family-owned Vermont grocery distribution company, and Vermont Gas Systems Inc. (1998 – 2010) – a regulated utility where he served as government and community relations manager.
Jim has over 20 years of public service: on the South Burlington City Council 1989-2007 (Vice Chair 1995-99, Chair 1999-2007); and as a member of the Vermont Senate: 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008. In the Senate he served as Chair of Senate Education (2003-04), Chair of Senate Government Operations (2005-06), and Chair of the Joint Legislative IT Committee (2007-08).
