Jim S. Furman has worked in education for sixteen years - as a public school teacher in New Orleans and Denver, a professor of English Education at the University of Delaware and the University of New Orleans, and as a consultant with the Louisiana and Colorado Departments of Education. He earned his Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Culture from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. Furman is currently a stay-at-home dad on a leave of absence from his job as a high school English teacher. He lives in Denver, CO with his wife and two young children.
