Jimmy Ramirez

Product of Mexican migrant laborers. Formerly homeless youth. Advocate for low income communities.

Jimmy Ramirez is a formerly homeless youth from outside San Francisco, California. He has advocated both in his home state and at the federal level for policy changes that aim to help homeless youth achieve stability.

Jimmy graduated from Georgetown University as the first in his family to earn a traditional four year degree. At Georgetown, he organized to eliminate barriers for first generation, low income students in higher education. He is the co-founder of Ignite the Dream--an event series that discusses the intersections of race and class. As a filmmaker, Jimmy has produced films that highlight racial, gender, and economic injustice--issues he is very passionate about. In 2015, he joined Google to work with small and medium businesses.
