Joe Biden

Vice President of the United States of America

Joe Biden was born November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the first of four siblings in an Irish-Catholic family. The family later moved to a middle-class neighborhood in Delaware. Biden graduated from the University of Delaware and Syracuse Law School and served on the New Castle County Council. Then, at age 29, against almost impossible odds, he became one of the youngest people ever elected to the United States Senate, beating an incumbent Republican.

For three decades, Joe Biden has served on the Senate's Foreign Relations Committee, becoming its Chairman in January. He has been the Democrats' leading voice on foreign policy and the most vocal critic of the Bush Administration's handling of the war. In addition to his work on foreign policy, he has been instrumental in passing landmark pieces of domestic legislation, most notably the Violence Against Women Act of 2000 (VAWA 2000), which he authored.

Joe Biden is the only presidential candidate with a comprehensive plan to bring home American troops without leaving chaos behind in Iraq. You can learn more about Joe Biden and his plan for Iraq at www.joebiden.com.
