Joe Lupo

Co-founder, Visual Therapy

Joe Lupo unofficially began his career in fashion selling high-end men’s dress shoes while still in high school. Moving to Chicago to study finance at DePaul University, he began working at a bank where he quickly advanced, becoming vice president at the precocious age of 25. Unable to contain his love for fashion, he would spend his Saturdays on Oak St, renowned for its luxury boutiques, spending countless hours discussing style at Ultimo with friend Jesse Garza.

Leaving the world of banking in 1995 to start Visual Therapy with Garza in New York, Lupo was able to realize a long-held dream of making a business out of his passion for fashion. With his banking background, Lupo pioneered Visual Therapy’s corporate consulting services working with top-tier clients such as Volkswagen, Bentley Motors, J. Mendel and Oxxford Clothes, as well as styling all Visual Therapy’s private male clients. The duo quickly became known in the media as the “style SWAT team”. They appeared regularly on The Oprah Winfrey Show and have been featured in such publications as Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, InStyle, and The New York Times.

Joe Lupo co-wrote three books on image and personal style with Jesse Garza: Nothing to Wear? (2006), Life in Color (2008) and Work It (2010). The style experts have partnered with retailers such as Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Tiffany & Co. to teach women across the country how to build a stylish wardrobe. In spring of 2011, Lupo and Garza took their business to a new level by launching VT Luxe — a highly successful collection of fashion accessories for QVC.
