Joel Kelsey is the legislative director of Free Press, a non-partisan non-profit organization fighting to protect Internet freedom and to reform the media. Joel designs and coordinates the organization’s legislative agenda, and represents Free Press before Congress, the Federal Communications Commission and in meetings with senior White House officials. He is a frequent guest on national television and radio news, and often quoted in the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. Before joining Free Press, Joel was a policy analyst of federal and international affairs for Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports, where he managed the organization’s advocacy efforts on cable, wireless, telephone and Internet policy. Before joining Consumers Union, Joel served as the New York City outreach director and later statewide campaigns coordinator for the New York Public Interest Research Group.
