John Dinges is co-director of the Center for Investigative Reporting and Information (CIPER) in Santiago, Chile, and professor of journalism at Columbia University. He is a former managing editor and international editor of NPR News. He reported from Chile and Central America for The Washington Post and other publications. His most recent book is The Condor Years: How Pinochet and His Allies Brought Terrorism to Three Continents (The New Press 2005).
