JOHN ELDER ROBISON was born in Athens, Georgia, and grew up in the 1960s, before the diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome existed. He is the author of two previous books, Be Different and the New York Times bestseller Look Me in the Eye. He lectures widely on autism and neurological differences; serves on committees and review boards for the Centers for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health, and Autism Speaks; and is a member of the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
