John Henry Parker

Co-Founder, Purple Star Veterans and Families (PSVF)

John Henry Parker is the co-founder of Purple Star Veterans and Families (PSVF), a grassroots non-profit group focused on policy change for improving how military personnel, Veterans and their families are supported and prepared for homecoming before, during and after separation from military service. He is the father of a fallen Purple Heart Recipient and Combat Veteran of two tours in Afghanistan who unfortunately died in an excessive speed related motorcycle accident after separating from military service with the Army 10th Mountain Division.

To honor his son Danny’s memory and to help other Veterans and their families, John Henry Co-Founded Purples Star Veterans and Families with Danny as Co-Founder Posthumously.

Having been raised by a volatile Korean War Marine Combat Veteran who suffered from Post Traumatic Stress, a former Marine himself and as a father of a fallen Army Combat Veteran who also suffered from PTS, John Henry has a broad understanding of the hardships associated with homecoming.

PSVF serves the interests of Veterans and their immediate families but there are over 3,500 Veterans service non-profit organization across the country that are already in place for this community.

How PSVF differentiates itself is our growing community of the forgotten and underserved population of parents, grandparent, extended family members and friends of Veterans who create the civilian safety net for homecoming.

With PSVF was not created to compete or to be redundant to other organizations. It was intentionally created to create community, to open communication between stakeholders and to advocate for critical change.

PSVF has a vision for the future and an action plan to accomplish this vision. You can learn more about this at www.purplestarfamilies.org.
