John Ingle is a PGY 3 in Otolaryngology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, NM, and the Regional Vice President for New Mexico for The Committee of Interns and Residents/SEIU Healthcare, the largest housestaff union in the country, representing more than 13,000 residents in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

Dr. Ingle graduated from Boston University Medical School, where he was exposed to a union for residents -- CIR -- at Boston Medical Center. He helped to bring CIR to the recently unionized resident physicians at the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he currently works. Dr. Ingle is also a chair of CIR's OR Safety Task Force, a group dedicated to developing educational materials and helping to establish a culture of safety in the operating rooms across the country, improving the reporting of needle sticks and treatment, and recommending OR safety devices and techniques for broad adoption.
