John Miller

President & CEO

John Miller joined the Tourette Association of America in 2016 after five years of distinguished service as the CEO/Executive Director of the American Red Cross on Long Island during the most impactful period in the organization’s 100-year history. Miller directed the mergers of three independent chapters into one, stronger organization. This process transformed the Red Cross business model by upgrading its management, public affairs and revenue infrastructure. Miller’s diversified executive experience allowed him to effectively lead the organization in providing humanitarian services to more than 2.8 million residents and to be its external “face.” In recognition of his strong leadership, John Miller has won numerous awards and honors, including being named as Outstanding CEO for 2014 by Long Island Business News. In 2015, Miller was selected from a pool of candidates from across America to participate in LEAD, the prestigious American Red Cross National Leadership Education and Development Program. Notable accomplishments included overseeing the largest Red Cross responses in Long Island’s history, Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy; working with government officials at all levels, as well as with celebrities, donors, volunteers and the media from across the country and around the world. He also served on the ARC Greater NY Regional Leadership Team. Immediately before the Red Cross, Miller served as Chief of Staff at the Food Bank For New York City, one of the largest operations of its kind in the USA. He was responsible for managing daily operations and was a liaison for the CEO to internal and external audiences, including the Board, executive staff, donors and government. Prior to the Food Bank, his most notable experience included serving as Commissioner of Public Works for the Town of Babylon, N.Y. and COO of Mercy College. Miller is a member of the Babylon Zoning Board and the Energeia Partnership at Molloy College. He received his MBA and BBA from Hofstra University and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.
