Jon Kerr

Online journalist, author, speaker

Jon Kerr is a Chicago, IL native who has 15 years experience in journalism and new media. A television news reporter/anchor in Traverse City, MI and Augusta, GA, he also worked as a sports reporter/anchor for Tribune Broadcasting in Chicago. He has written for several newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times Media and the East Lansing (MI) Towne Courier on topics related to the NCAA, college and prep sports. In 2003, he was a writer for Preps Extra, a television show devoted to high school sports that won a local Emmy. In 2005, Kerr was the host of "Collegiate Athlete Today", the first internet radio show featuring collegiate athletics.

In 2009, Kerr transitioned to online media. He was the first sports editor of BreakingTweets.com, a ground-breaking start up news site that implemented Twitter as part of its news gathering platform. He was a columnist and social media reporter for the Aurora (IL) Beacon News, covering college and high school basketball. He is currently the new media director for the Glencoe Grand Prix, a USA Cycling bicycle race taking place in June of 2011. He is author of two upcoming books.

Kerr is also a Chicago Cubs season ticket holder, optimistically reminding himself every baseball season this will be the year the Cubs will win a World Series. By July, he pessimistically reminds himself there is always next year.
