Jonathan Wilcox, Co-Founder & Policy Director, Patients Rising and Patients Rising NOW Jonathan Wilcox is a corporate communications and public affairs consultant, providing strategic counseling, executive speechwriting and media training to clients in the public and private sectors. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication. Wilcox has been a featured on-air commentator for ABC News, NBC News, Fox News Channel, CNN, several national radio programs and international networks in England, Australia and Japan. His editorial commentaries have been featured in Investor’s Business Daily, National Review, Sacramento Bee, Los Angeles Daily News, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Times, Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News and Cleveland Plain Dealer. Wilcox has written extensively for numerous corporate executives, including the Chairman and CEO of Merrill Lynch, the CEO of Coldwell Banker, the Executive Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank and the Deputy President of McDonnell-Douglas. He has authored remarks for Ronald Reagan, George Deukmejian and former FCC Commissioner Andrew Barrett. Wilcox was also a leading speechwriter for California Governor Pete Wilson. From 1998-2000, he was a Principal for Public Strategies Incorporated (PSi), serving as a senior strategist for Southwestern Bell Communications (SBC), overseeing multi-state ventures and representing SBC at legislative conferences and debates. Wilcox was also the designated corporate point of contact for the national “open access” issue, managed the campaign leading to the adoption of historic legislation in St. Louis and designed all content for “Open AccessAlliance” websites in four states. From 1991-92, Wilcox served as Executive Writer to the Governor of California. In 1993-94, he was the Director of Writing and Research for the California Child Development and Education Agency. In 1995, he was named a Senior Consultant for the global public relations firm Burson-Marsteller. From 1996-97, Wilcox returned to the California Governor’s Office as Deputy Director of Public Affairs and Chief Deputy Speechwriter. In 1998, he simultaneously served as Chief Speechwriter for the Dan Lungren for Governor campaign as well as Press Secretary and Media Consultant for the successful re-election campaigns of California’s Insurance Commissioner and Secretary of State. In 2001 and 2002, he served as chief speechwriter for Bill Simon’s campaign for Governor. In 2003, he served as Communications Director for Rescue California, the lead committee organizing and advocating the successful recall of former Governor Gray Davis. Wilcox is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
