Judd Winick

Judd is an award winning cartoonist, former REAL WORLD castmate, and creator of the new graphic novel series HILO. He is shorter in person.

Award winning Cartoonist Judd Winick was born and raised on Long Island, New York.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, he came to national prominence as a cast member of MTV’S The Real World, San Francisco in 1994.

In the wake of the death of his Real World roommate and friend, AIDS activist Pedro Zamora, Winick embarked on a national AIDS education lecture tour. Later, that lecture and his friendship with Zamora was documented in his award winning graphic novel Pedro And Me.

It was followed by his original comic book series Adventures of Barry Ween, Boy Genius , a syndicated run of his comic strip Frumpy The Clown and a long running stint as one of the top writers on main stream super hero comics. Winick has scripted such best selling titles as Batman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Catwoman, Batwing, Superman, Shazam, Outsiders, Titans, Justice League (for DC COMICS), Exiles (for MARVEL) and Star Wars (for DARK HORSE).

Winick was also the creator and executive producer of CARTOON NETWORK’s series The Life And Times Of JUNIPER LEE and was the screenwriter for BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD, the animated feature adaptation of his run on the Batman comic book series.

He has developed live action television series for NBC, SONY and 20th Century Fox.

He is a writer/producer on the HULU network’s animated series THE AWESOMES .

Judd is also writing and drawing his graphic novel series for children, HILO, to be published by RANDOM HOUSE. The first book to be released in the Fall 2015.

He lives in San Francisco with his wife (and fellow former Real World SF cast member) Dr. Pamela Ling, and their two children. They have far too many toys for grown people, a cat that speaks, and a sizable artificial lawn.
