Kate Schmier

Kate Schmier is a writer and director of public information at Phoenix House, a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities rise above addiction. She was previously a health editorial assistant at Good Housekeeping magazine. She holds an MFA in fiction from Sarah Lawrence College and a BA from the University of Michigan. Her writing has also appeared at Tin House magazine online, and she was a 2012 recipient of an Elizabeth George Foundation grant for emerging writers. Packing her bags and leaving her Motown suburb, she made the writer's pilgrimage to New York five years ago.
