Kathie Kane-Willis is a researcher and educator at Roosevelt Universityhttp://roosevelt.edu/icdp in Chicago. Currently, she heads the Roosevelt University’s Institute for Metropolitan Affairs and is the director of the Illinois Consortium on Drug Policy, which she co-founded in 2005. Kane-Willis' goal is to provide sound research to assist policymakers, advocates, impacted individuals and the general public to develop socially just and economically viable drug policies. Her research interests include disproportionate minority contact, drug education curriculum development, and educating communities and individuals about the nature of substance use issues as complex bio/psycho/social disorders. Kane-Willis has received numerous awards for her work on behalf of individuals who have substance use disorders and serves as co-chair for the Illinois Advisory Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependency.
