Katja Kolcio is Associate Professor and Chair of Dance, and core faculty in Environmental Studies at Wesleyan University. Her research is on the intersection between performance and politics, with a specific focus on Ukraine. She participated in the first international intensive on history and politics of Ukraine sponsored by the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Sciences following its independence in 1991, and has studied dance in Kiev, Odessa, Moscow and St. Petersburg. She published Movable Pillars: Organizing Dance 1956-1978 (2010, Wesleyan University Press).
