Ken Thompson is a plant biologist with a keen interest in the science of gardening. He writes and lectures extensively and has written six books on gardening and popular science, including Compost, No Nettles Required and Do We Need Pandas?; The Uncomfortable Truth About Biodiversity. His latest book is Where do Camels Belong? The Story and Science of Invasive Species.

Ken is married with two grown-up children, and has lived in Sheffield, UK since 1990. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, walking, reading and supporting Plymouth Argyle football club.
