Ken Toltz

Businessman, long-time gun violence prevention activist, founder & co-chair Safe Campus Colorado

Ken Toltz is a 3rd generation Coloradan, businessman and longtime gun violence prevention activist. Prior to his business career, Toltz served as a legislative aide in Colorado's state legislature. Upon graduation from CU-Boulder he worked in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist then became finance director for the 1984 Gary Hart for President campaign. Ken has taught business strategy and marketing courses for the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver where he earned an MBA, and has held senior management positions in financial services, consumer products and the service industry. He also consults on strategic planning for entrepreneurs. In 2000 Toltz was the Democratic nominee for U.S. Congress running against incumbent Tom Tancredo in Colorado’s 6th Congressional District, also the home of Columbine H.S. He has been active with local and national gun violence prevention grassroots organizations for the past 17 years and founded and co-chairs Safe Campus Colorado, dedicated to eliminating concealed weapons from college and university campuses. Ken recently declared his candidacy in Colorado's open 2nd Congressional District for the 2018 elections.
