Kevin Bruyneel is the author of “Settler Memory: The Disavowal of Indigeneity in the Political Life of Race in the United States,” published in 2021. He is of non-native, settler ancestry, born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
