Kevin Steinberg

Global COO of Spencer Stuart Leadership Advisory Services

Kevin Steinberg is the global chief operating officer for Spencer Stuart’s Leadership Advisory Services. He is responsible for leading practice-wide efforts that support the management, growth and development of the firm’s portfolio of advisory services, which include senior-level executive assessment, CEO succession planning, board effectiveness, and other leadership and culture-related consulting. He brings deep expertise in global industry trends at the intersection of investment, social impact and stakeholder engagement, and their impact on organizations and their leadership.

Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Kevin served as the president of Purpose, a strategic consultancy and digital agency focused on stakeholder engagement and social impact. He led line operations, strategy and client engagements across the organization’s corporate consultancy and non-profit and foundation services, and continues to sit on the company’s board of directors.

Previously, Kevin was the chief operating officer of the World Economic Forum USA, the North American affiliate of the World Economic Forum. During his tenure, he guided the organization from its inception to more than $55 million in annual revenues, more than 100 employees, and numerous active initiatives, projects and global events. He also held a number of roles with the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, including leading its private sector relationship management function, where he advised Fortune 1000 CEOs and senior executives on strategy and stakeholder engagement. He also headed its Centre for Global Industries and Risk Response Network.
He began his career with McKinsey & Company, where he advised wholesale financial institutions on strategy and change management.

He currently serves as a member of the board and as secretary of the McKinsey Social Initiative, the non-profit founded by the firm to work on complex social challenges. He sits on several additional for-profit and nonprofit boards, including Claridge, the New Center for Arts and Culture, and Opportunity Network.

Kevin graduated from Stanford University with an M.B.A. and J.D., with distinction, and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University, magna cum laude, and is currently an adjunct professor at Brandeis University's International Business School.
