Kira Craft

Fashion Scholar

Kira Craft is a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, School of Graduate Studies. Her research centers on consumerism and sustainability, with a particular focus on the motivational processes of identity within society. She graduated with top honors from the Fashion Studies MA at Parsons; her thesis, Consuming Desire, Deconstructing the Strip Show Hunk was featured in LOOP: Parsons Alumni Exhibition, 2016. Prior to Parsons, Kira worked as a fashion designer, creating an eponymous line of made-to-measure clothing that explored and challenged conventional constructions of gender and sexuality. As both a maker and a theorist, she seeks to build bridges between the perceived divisions of practice and theory by championing their complimentary nature.
