The magazine has won six awards in numerous categories, including General Excellence, Special Interest, Design and Photography. Born in Warsaw, Poland, and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Cairo, Egypt, and New Canaan, Connecticut, Glowczewka speaks three languages, including French and Polish. She has translated, from the Polish to English, two books by the internationally acclaimed writer Ryszard Kapuscinski, about the former Soviet Union (Imperium) and Africa (The Shadow of the Sun)—and is presently translating a third, about the relevance of Herodotus and his travels to our times.
