Kristal Brent Zook, Ph.D. is a New York-based journalist who writes about a wide range of social and political issues. Currently professor and director of the M.A. Journalism Program at Hofstra University, she is a former contributing writer for The Washington Post Arts/Style, Essence magazine, and the Village Voice, and has appeared on numerous radio and television outlets including CNN, NPR, Fox, MTV, TV-One, C-SPAN. She is also the author of three books: Black Women's Lives: Stories of Power and Pain, I See Black People: The Rise and Fall of African-American Owned Television and Radio, and Color by Fox: The Fox Network and the Revolution in Black Television.
