Commissioner David Hudson

National Commander of The Salvation Army USA

Appointed National Commander in September 2017, David Hudson has served The Salvation Army along with his wife, Sharron, since 1975. The Hudsons were corps officers for 14 years, including appointments in Oregon, Idaho and Southern California. Immediately preceding this appointment, he served as the National Chief Secretary for the USA National Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. In his role as National Commander, Hudson leads a network of 3,600 officers, 59,000 employees and 3.4 million volunteers serving in nearly 7,600 Centers of Operation throughout the United States. He also acts as the chairman of the national board of trustees and is responsible for presiding over triannual commissioners’ conferences, which bring together the key executive leaders of The Salvation Army’s four territories in the United States. Commissioner Hudson earned a Degree in Business Management and a Master of Science Degree in Leadership.
