Lauren Ashburn is a veteran television anchor, reporter and commentator. She is Founder and Editor-in-Chief of www.daily-download.com
As a contributor to CBS’s The Early Show, she conceived, reported, wrote and appeared on air for a series called Silver Linings, which focused on people who were doing positive things or community work during the recession.
She has been a frequent analyst on media and politics on such programs as CNN’s Reliable Sources, HLN, MSNBC’s Hardball, Fox News and served as co-host of PBS’s Think Tank.
She also discussed trend stories as a regular contributor (getting up way too early) for the morning show at WUSA, the CBS station in Washington.
Earlier in her career, Ashburn served as an anchor and reporter for USA Today and for WJLA, the ABC station in Washington. She was on the air for 17 hours on the day of the 9/11 attack at the Pentagon and has also covered Capitol Hill and presidential campaigns and conventions.
Ashburn has worked in the business side of television as well, serving as managing editor at Gannett Broadcasting, where she coordinated editorial projects for the company’s 23 stations and negotiated with sponsors and advertisers.
Ashburn received her Master's Degree in Journalism from Columbia University and her Bachelor's Degree from Albright College in Reading, Pa. She has since been awarded Albright’s Young Alumna Achievement Award for career performance and served on its Board. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and three children.
