Leave No One Behind

Leave No One Behind partnership -formed to help turn the promise into reality

In 2015 world leaders came together and made a historic promise. They signed up to 17 Global Goals – the Sustainable Development Goals – that have the potential to end poverty, to reduce inequality and to tackle climate change in 15 years.

At the heart of the goals is a commitment to ensure that ‘no one is left behind’ and that no goal is considered met unless met for all. That’s because, although we have witnessed huge progress in the fight against poverty and injustice, too many people - the most impoverished, those that are excluded, disadvantaged and at risk of violence and discrimination have been left behind.

In 2015 the Leave No One Behind Partnership was founded by three international non-profit organisations (CIVICUS, Development Initiatives, and Project Everyone) with the support of the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development to catalyse a global movement to ensure that Leave No One Behind turns from words to reality.

The Leave No One Behind Partnership is sharing a series of powerful untold stories from people facing the worst levels of poverty, marginalisation and exclusion. The series will put the needs of those most in need in the context of the specific commitments enshrined in the UN´s Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Climate Agreement.
