Georgette Mulheir is Chief Executive of Lumos, the international children's rights organization founded in 2005 by Harry Potter author J.K.Rowling to end the institutionalization of children worldwide by 2050. Drawing upon her nearly two decades of experience helping vulnerable children and families in 17 countries across Europe and Africa, Georgette Mulheir leads Lumos in its mission to ensure that no children anywhere in the world are separated from their parents and institutionalized anywhere because of poverty,disability,or any kind of discrimination. She has pioneered a model of deinstitutionalization now followed in many countries across Central and Eastern Europe, and has advised governments on the reform of their services for children and families. she is the author of four books related to children’s rights, and currently advises the European Commission on the reform of children’s services across the EU.
