Leslie A. Dach

Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Walmart

Leslie Dach is Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Walmart. He reports to Walmart Stores Inc. CEO Mike Duke, and is a member of the company’s executive council and executive finance committee. Leslie is responsible, globally, for public policy, reputation management, corporate communications, philanthropy, NGO and government partnerships, government relations, corporate strategic planning and the company’s social responsibility and sustainability initiatives.

He has been responsible for the development of initiatives such as Walmart’s partnership with First Lady Michelle Obama to make food healthier and make healthy food more affordable; its $2 billion commitment to fight hunger; the development of the sustainability index; Walmart’s pledge to remove 20 million metric tons of carbon from its global supply chain; the company’s emergence as the number 1 onsite generator of renewable energy in the United States; overall corporate giving which exceeded $1 billion last year; and comprehensive efforts in women’s economic empowerment and sustainable agriculture. These efforts have been widely credited with developing a new model of business impact.

Before joining Walmart, Leslie was Vice Chairman of Edelman, a major global communications firm and was responsible for the company’s Washington D.C. office as well as its research, strategy, healthcare, technology and public affairs practices.

Leslie has been active as a strategist in Democratic politics and worked in senior positions in a number of presidential campaigns. He served the Clinton administration in a variety of project capacities. Leslie has also served on the government relations staffs of the National Audubon Society and Environmental Defense Fund, and as special assistant to the chairman of the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee.

Leslie has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Yale University and a master’s in public administration from Harvard University. He has served numerous non-profit boards including the World Resources Institute, United Negro College Fund, the Yale University Council, the Dean’s Council of the Kennedy School of Government and the National Audubon Society.
