Student and freelance journalist

Lilly Maier is a student and freelance journalist. Originally from Europe, she switches between writing in English and German.

She interns at PolitiFact.com, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking site, and writes a monthly column for the Austrian daily newspaper Kurier.

Previously, Maier worked for German and Austrian magazines, including News, Presse and Die Stadtspionin ("Cityspottergirl").

In 2007, Maier founded a bimonthly European youth magazine, Schnipsel ("papercuts"), that was awarded funding by the European Union, and won a first prize in the prestigious school magazine contest of the German magazine Spiegel.

Besides writing, Maier has a deep passion for history. For her thesis, she's interviewing Holocaust survivors around the United States.
