Lisa Speidel, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Professor in the Women, Gender and Sexuality Program at the University of Virginia. She has taught the national Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Self-Defense course at UVA and in her community for 21 years. Her article “Exploring the Intersection of Race and Gender in Self-Defense Training” has just been published in the journal Violence Against Women.
