Lisa Shaw

Parenthood via adoption, sanity via caffeine, and relief via writing can all be found at PryvateParts.com.

Lisa Shaw spends her days dreaming of a world in which her wallet was so fat she could throw cold hard cash at two of her favorite causes–people who want to adopt children and those suffering with mental illnesses. She'd throw "You Are Awesome" parties with bouncy castles, piñatas shaped like rude people, and puppies. When she wasn't doing that, she'd be writing about what it's like to be a transracial adoptive parent, while managing depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and the unending urge to eat all the cookies. Lisa's often hilarious and sometimes poignant essays can be found on her blog at PryvateParts.com, as well as Scary Mommy, ABC13 Eyewitness News, Love What Matters, BlogHer, Blunt Moms, Sammiches and Psych Meds, and The Mighty. WordPress chose her post "Writing While Mothering" as one of the Best Posts of 2016.
