Lise Balk King is a Fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where she is currently specializing in the dynamic crossroads of media, human rights and public policy. She is also the founder of the Carr Center's Initiative on Indigenous Rights, and is in production on a documentary film on the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Lise has two children, ages 11 and 19, who are enrolled members of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. As a non-native with decades of experience living and working in Indian Country, she is a recognized bridge-builder, providing leadership in cross-cultural communication and advocacy.
