Lori Needleman

An American in Spain

North American photographer Lori Needleman moved to Spain in 2009 after meeting her husband while photographing the Spanish festival Las Bodas de Isabel de Segura. As she lives in the heart of Spain, she gets a rare glimpse of what life is like for those Spaniards living in rural villages where the only daily connection to the real world is the television. She´s walked the fields with shepherds, taken private tours of hidden tunnels from the Spanish Civil War and was chosen to be the town crier (pregonera) at the 2012 festival that brought here there. Lori Needleman's ESPAÑA, a website dedicated to her visual experience as an American living in Spain, was selected by Photo District News Annual as one of the best photography websites in 2011. In 2012, she began blogging for the Huffington Post Travel section and for her own blog, 17 ESPAÑA. Needleman´s images are award-winning and have been featured in several magazines. She can be reached via her website lorineedleman.com.
