Colorado State Policy Advocate for the National Council of Jewish Women
Marcia Helfant currently serves as Colorado State Policy Advocate for the National Council of Jewish Women, a grassroots social justice organization that emphasizes quality of life issues for women, children and families. For 31 years, Marcia has worked in the field of Gerontology, as director of a Senior Center, as Director of Senior Services for the West Philadelphia Mental Health Consortium, as director of a nursing home ombudsman program, and, for 10 years, as a Nursing Home Administrator. Marcia moved to Denver in 2004 to be closer to children and grandchildren, where she served as Director of Marketing and Community Outreach for Kavod Senior Living (formerly Allied Jewish Apartments), a subsidized senior living community in Cherry Creek, retiring at the end of 2013. During those years, she became active in community advocacy efforts around right to life issues with NCJW, and served on the Denver Mayor’s Commission on Women for 4 years.
