Margaret A. Hacskaylo

Peg Hacskaylo is a native Washingtonian who has been a dedicated advocate with experience in nonprofit and governmental agencies, designing and delivering services for women, families, and victims of crime to alleviate violence and homelessness for over 20 years. Currently, Ms. Hacskaylo is the Founder and Executive Director of the District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH), where she oversees low-barrier, voluntary services and housing for hundreds of survivors escaping domestic and sexual violence in the District annually. Prior to that, Ms. Hacskaylo was Principal for Insight Outcomes, LLC, working with not-for-profit agencies on organizational development projects. Previously, she served as Program Manager for the Office on Violence Against Women, managing grants to organizations serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking; Deputy Director of My Sister’s Place, a shelter for women escaping abuse; and, Project Director for OVC TTAC, a national clearinghouse for training and technical assistance to victim services. She began her career at the Fairfax County Women’s Shelter, where she first developed her passion for helping women and children escape abuse and find safe, independent housing. She holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a certificate in Organizational Development from Georgetown University.
