Currently an MSW candidate at Long Island University Brooklyn, Martez is a community organizer and advocate for LGBTQ people of color, namely, youth involved in the house and ball community. Recently, he launched the NYC Ballroom Symposium – an annual event which highlights the collective skills and talents of NYC house and ball participants. In Partnership with getR.E.A.L. and the Keeping Community Alive Network, Martez also works to combat the systemic oppression of LGBTQ youth of color.
