Marty Steffens is a professor and endowed chair at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She’s a veteran journalist and former editor of the San Francisco Examiner, and Binghamton (NY) Press & Sun-Bulletin. She’s worked for the Los Angeles Times, Minneapolis Star and Dayton Daily News, among other publications. She’s co-author of Reporting Disaster on Deadline (Routledge, 2012) and is researching a book on a critical turning point in the Civil War.
