Mary Jacksteit has more than twenty years of experience in mediation, facilitation, and negotiation in a range of settings including non-profit organizations, government, and community groups. She is an Associate with the Public Conversations Project (PCP) as well as the lead on a PCP project assisting the community college initiative of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. She directed, and is now a Senior Associate for Collaboration DC, a project that supports civic engagement and collaborative governance in Washington, D.C. For ten years she worked for the conflict resolution organization, Search for Common Ground, seven of those years directing the Common Ground Network for Life and Choice, a program fostering dialogue in the abortion conflict and supporting common ground efforts on teen pregnancy prevention and other issues. That work has been featured in several publications including the Negotiation Journal and Consensus Building Handbook authored by Lawrence Susskind. Her career also includes labor arbitration and workplace law, and for seven years she served as a Member of the Federal Service Impasses Panel, appointed by President William J. Clinton.
