Dr. Mathias Terheggen is Senior Advisor with Philanthropy & Values-Based Investing where he is responsible for the topics of philanthropic advisory as well as social entrepreneurship. Philanthropy & Values-Based Investing at UBS AG is a dedicated unit that provides a comprehensive range of services to high-net worth individuals engaging in philanthropic activities.

Mathias advices ultra-high-net worth individuals and families new to the topic of philanthropy in developing their own, customized vision and approach as well as leading private foundations on their programmatic, advocacy and partnership strategies and how to leverage new philanthropic 'tools' like social entrepreneurship or impact investing.

Prior to joining UBS Philanthropy Services he was Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company Switzerland where he served Swiss clients in the area of marketing and high-tech before focusing exclusively on social sector topics. His global work experience includes private and corporate philanthropy, education and public health and health systems. Previous to McKinsey, Mathias Terheggen received his PhD in Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and a Diploma with Honors from the University of Regensburg. From 2002 to 2005 he was a Co-founder and Board Member of the Telejob-foundation.
