Executive Director of New York Jobs with Justice and Urban Agenda

Matt Ryan is Executive Director of New York Jobs with Justice and Urban Agenda. He has coordinated multiple labor-community coalition efforts in New York City and state, including the Coney for All campaign to ensure quality jobs and affordable housing in the Coney Island development and the Good Food Good Jobs campaign to reduce New York City food deserts. For the eight years before he joined NY Jobs with Justice, Matt organized low-wage worker unions in cites across the Midwest. In Cincinnati, he led the Justice for Janitors campaign that united 1,500 commercial office janitors and built broad community support with local faith, community, and political leaders. After achieving the city’s first janitors union and industry-wide contract, Matt became Cincinnati City Director of SEIU Local 1 and later served as an executive board member of the Cincinnati AFL-CIO Central Labor Council.
